When Can I Go Back To Surfing And Swimming In The Ocean?

Serving much of coastal San Diego, from La Jolla to Oceanside, we often get asked when patients can go back to surfing or swimming after eyelid surgery.   If you are having cosmetic eyelid surgery, such as upper eyelid blepharoplasty or lower eyelid blepharoplasty, we prefer they stay out of the ocean for two weeks until the wounds heal.  Dr. Iyengar is an expert at scarless lower eyelid blepharoplasty and there are no external visible incisions, but the hidden incision inside the eyelid is still healing a few weeks after surgery.  If you are having an eyelid lesion or growth removed it is quite feasible that you can be back swimming or in the ocean much sooner.  These general principles also apply for vigorous exercise and yoga.
