Procedures - Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty

Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is performed as a eyelid rejuvenation procedure to enhance one’s appearance without greatly altering one’s identity, and as a procedure to help increase one's peripheral vision. The procedure removes excess skin and/or fat in the upper eyelid.

As eyelid experts, eye plastic, or oculoplastic, surgeons are particularly attentive to the subtle details of this procedure and eye safety. Our technique is tailored for each patient taking into account their specific anatomy, ethnicity and personal goals. Blepharoplasty in men must be performed differently than in women. We pay particular attention to crease formation and/or preservation. Skin removal from the upper eyelid is performed with care taken to preserve the underlying orbicularis muscle that is responsible for eyelid closure and thereby ensure a full, virile look to the upper eyelid. Insurance may cover upper blepharoplasty if the skin hangs over the eyelid margin and obscures the visual fields or the excess skin pushes the eyelashes downward to interfere with visual function.

Blepharoplasty may be performed in the office setting or in a nearby outpatient surgery center. We regularly have physician colleagues, celebrities, attorneys, and business executives seek out our specialty practice for blepharoplasty. We also see patients for revisional blepharoplasty and Asian eyelid surgery.
