Amazing Oculoplastic surgeon. Removed a couple of new lesions on my eyelid right on the spot! Healed perfectly without a trace. Highly recommend!

I went to Dr. Iyengar to remove a small growth on my upper lid lash line after both my dermatologist and optometrist said they did not feel comfortable removing it. My optometrist referred me to Dr. Iyengar “for all things eyelids”. That initial appointment ended with a discussion about my eye bags and an outpatient surgical procedure called lower blepharoplasty with fat repositioning. This procedure removes the excess skin under your lower eyelid but instead of removing the fat pads, they are repositioned beneath the lower lid so that it provides a seamless transition between your lower eyelid and upper check bone (no hollow eye look caused from removing rather than repositioning the fat). When the fat is repositioned it also naturally fills the tear trough line so both the line and bag go away. I had always planned on aging naturally, but my eyebags were so prominent that eventually I stopped wearing eye makeup. Why would I want to bring any attention to that area? I know my self-esteem shouldn’t be driven by my appearance, but I no longer liked the way I looked, and it was having an impact on how I felt. I made an appointment for a surgery consultation after I had thought about it and had time to research the procedure, complications, and risks. Dr. Iyengar answered all my questions and his nurse, who had the procedure done, gave me her perspective from both the patient and medical side. They both made me feel very comfortable and confident that I had picked the right surgeon. The procedure was painless and after about two weeks I was comfortable going out without feeling like everyone could tell I had surgery. The biggest complaint was nausea from the anesthesia which lasted about two days and the boredom that comes from letting your eyes rest for a few days. I am almost 5-months post-op and the results are fantastic! My only regret is not doing it sooner. Eye bags are gone, tear trough is almost non-existent, and an unexpected bonus is I have less wrinkles around my eyes because of the excess skin removal. I am happy to look in the mirror again and recognize the person staring back at me. My friends say I look 15 years younger. I am no longer told I look tired. Dr. Iyengar is a brilliant surgeon, and a compassionate person with a good sense of humor. Kristina, his medical assistant, was patient and diligent in answering my pre-op and post-op questions, even when their office was closed for the holidays! His office staff are on top of their game. He has my full confidence. Highly recommend him!

I truly cannot express enough how grateful I am to the entire staff at San Diego Eyelid Specialist. Dr. Iyengar did a phenomenal job on my eyelids and I could not be happier with the results. I wish I would have done it years ago because I now feel and look younger! Not only were all my expectations met, but they were exceeded. The front desk receptionist, Katie, is an absolute sweetheart and went above and beyond for me. I'm so grateful for her friendliness, compassion and professionalism! Kristina, who assisted Dr. Iyenger throughout my procedure was a special added bonus too! She made any nerves I may have had disappear with her calming voice while describing what would take place from start to finish. In fact, Dr. Iyengar, Kristina and I had great conversations throughout the procedure and I was comfortable from the get go thanks to them Thank you for taking my music request, too! Fabulous experience from start to finish. Great results, no pain, no bruising. Pleasant and welcoming staff. Results are SO much bette with an oculoplastic surgeon than with a plastic surgeon. I highly recommend Dr. Iyengar!

Dr. Iyengar is a magician!

Dr. Iyengar and his entire staff work with the same, high level patient-centric focus. My consult visit was quick and to the point not to be confused with rushed. Dr. Iyengar is confident and the best at what he's does. The morning of my procedure was seamless, starting off with Kristina walking me through the entire process and what to expect, answering any of my questions or concerns. During the procedure, Dr. Iyengar was chatty to help settle my nerves while Kristina was my backup support. The entire procedure took about 30 mins. Post-op, I had direct access to Kristina with any questions or concerns and she was quick to respond. I experienced zero pain and healed quickly. Now six weeks post-op and my outcomes are fantastic! My eyes look wide open and less tired while my makeup goes on so much easier. I highly recommend Dr. Iyengar and his entire team, it's worth the wait.

r. Iyengar is the gold standard for eyes. He does nothing but eyes! Which goes to how good he is. All of my referral requests pointed back to him, from my dermatologist to doctors who travel the world doing charity work: they all say he is the best. Don’t go to a general plastic surgeon — many get botched eye surgeries, and come to Dr. Iyengar to fix it. The photos of them in the office are very disturbing. Don’t risk it! Every generalist will tell you “eyelids are easy” but just look at how many are botched. Come to a specialist who does eyelid surgery, only, multiple times each week

Dr. Iyengar does fantastic work! I had this surgery done about 22yrs ago in Seattle and knew that someday I'd probably have to have it done again. Well, at 63, it was time. I was worried that maybe I didn't have enough loose skin to do it a second time, but the doctor said I did (yay!!). I wanted a natural, more awake look and not fake "wide-eyes" that I never had. I now can go without eye makeup, if needed, and not feel like I look haggard. Dr. Iyengar is not overly chatty and is very professional, nice, but right to business, if you are looking for lots of pampering and hand holding, this is not a spa - you are hiring him for his excellent surgery skills - and he is excellent at that!!!! Having this done before, I feel his prices are accurate, reflect today's prices and his worth. If you want to go cut-rate and save a little and risk your looks...go ahead, as in this field you often get what you pay for. I was a public risk manager and know to look at safety and quality first vs a "deal." But, again, I think he's fairly priced - surgery is never cheap and anything by the eyes you need precision and Dr. Iyengar is that!! I also was worried that taking pills for anxiety and some shots around the eyes would not be enough for my anxiety/claustrophobia...but, I did fine, so if you have those concerns, you should be fine. I also made sure not to eat that morning so the pills could take full effect. I followed all instructions afterwards and has the expected swelling/light bruising and was fine by two weeks after when I could wear make-up again - just be sure to follow ALL pre and post surgery instructions to the letter!!! I have nothing to gain by this review - my surgery was a one-time thing, I have no other services at his office, no discounts, nothing in return for this - I simply believe in giving credit where credit is due and to try to help others navigate what can be a scary decision when you are contemplating having someone cut open your eyes. You won't go wrong with Dr. Iyengar!!

I had an upper Blepharoplasty done 7 weeks ago and am very happy with the results! I was born with hooded and uneven eyelids. The unevenness especially has bothered me my whole life. At 40, I’ve been able to fix it thanks to Dr. Iyengar. I look at my lids in the mirror every day now and smile. He was honest with the type of results I could expect for my specific eyelids and I feel that the end result looks natural. See pics (and yes I had my brows done as well between the two pics). His office manager is awesome. They were on time for all of my appointments. The recovery time was as described. I had a good experience overall, less bruising than I expected, and I love having even eyelids now! UPDATE: I wanted to add an update, almost a year and a half later. I’ve been doing a lot of video communication recently and every time I see my eyelids on screen I am so pleased and thankful. My uneven eyelids had bothered me my whole life. I love my new eyelids! I’m so glad I got the procedure, and Dr. Iyengar did a great job. Last 2 photos are from over a year later.

Dr Iyengar performed lower blepharoplasty on me. I can finally say I’m very happy with the results. I wasn’t like the normal patient who heals from this surgery in a month. My swelling lasted for MONTHS. Dr Iyengar was always so wonderful and caring through my issues and was always available to see me. His office staff is so nice too. My swelling is finally down, I just needed time. I love the results! Dr Iyengar is an excellent surgeon. Thank you so much Dr Iyengar!!!!
