My words cannot truly express the gratitude I have for Dr. Iyengar. I work as a Farrier (horseshoer), and therefore spend a lot of time in barns and around horses. In April 2017, I had an accident on the job that I thought was really going to change my life.. A "Tack Hook", is a large hook, common in barns. It is a large, treble style hook made of 1/4"-1/2" rounded steel. They are used to hang bridle and reins from. In the course of walking back and forth from the horse I was working on and the anvil, I managed to walk into a tack hook. The hook snagged me under my left eyelid and my forward momentum caused the hook to tear my eyelid almost completely off, and sever my tear duct. I made it to the ER around 6pm. At 8am the following morning, Dr. Iyengar was performing surgery on my eyelid and tear duct. He introduced himself before surgery and explained the severity of my injury and what his game plan was for repairing it was. After surgery, and throughout the healing process, Dr. Iyengar made himself extrememly available to me and really made me feel taken care of. I never had any issue getting in communication with him. It is now December 2017, and my eyelid and tear duct have healed completely. My eyelid lifts and closes and my tear duct is functioning as it should. I also feel like my field of view and peripheral vision is just as it was. I would have been happy just to have everything re-attached. I was expecting obvious scaring, drooping, watery, etc.. but it looks just as it did before the injury. I truly believe that if it weren't for the skill of Dr. Iyengar, I would not be able to continue to make a living as farrier, welder, fabricator.. or get a date. Many, many thanks to Dr. Iyengar and everyone at San Diego Eyelid specialist. -Andrew DeSoto.
I have never experienced this level of disappointment in a doctor. Three days out of the hospital and I visit his office on a recommendation, Dr Iyengar admits I am to ill to be seen, cancels the visit and still has the audacity to bill me $202.27. After my copay and an adjustment to the bill, I still owe $72.29 and Christine does not have the professionalism to return the call. It's not the money Dr I. It's called moral fortitude!
So passionate and caring, not to mention good at what he does.
I woke up with a terrible eye infection. Called Dr. Iyengar's office, explained the situation and they were able to see me right away. Can't thank them enough for that. I found Dr. Iyengar and his staff to be exceptionally professional, knowledgeable and caring. Can't recommend him enough.
Dr Iyengar and his staff are very nice and comforting. I had to get a small growth off the edge of my upper eyelid. Dr Iyengar took great care with steady hands to make sure it was removed without visible scars or unwanted remnants, while also making sure that I was pain free. I highly recommend his office.
I went to Dr. Iyengar 3 times for a serious infection of the eyelid duct that had perforated. He was so kind, gentle and explained the course of treatment very clearly. I followed exactly what Dr. Iyengar said to do and my infection cleared completely. I went back and he tested my duct to make sure it had healed and amazedly it was completely healed. Dr. Iyengar is very thorough which exactly what I want for an eye doctor. I am so thankful and grateful to Dr. Iyengar and would highly recommend him.
Excellent service and prompt follow-up. Dr. Iyengar was very professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
My upper eyelids were drooping and I constantly needed to lift my brow to keep my eyes open. That made me feel really tired! I'm in my late 60's and was concerned that an eyelift would look weird, stretched and creepy compared to the natural aging of the rest of my face. Dr. Iyengar promised he would only remove what was necessary and he did a GREAT job! The rest of his staff was really nice, and they were always on time for my appointments, too.
I was referred to Dr. Srinivas Iyengar by an optometrist since my peripheral vision was being blocked by my sagging eyelids. To be sure of the need for surgery, Dr. Iyengar referred me to a testing facility in his complex. I failed the test miserably and had another appointment with Dr. Iyengar to discuss the results. I am so impressed with Dr. Iyengar’s professionalism and patience in the way he discussed the procedure and my options. My girlfriend and I asked many questions and Dr. Iyengar answered them thoroughly and carefully. At no time did we ever feel rushed. My procedure is called a blepharoplasty and was done to remove excess skin from the upper eyelids where the skin has lost some of its elasticity. I had the choice of having the surgery in a surgery center or in Dr. Iyengar’s office. I chose to have it done in his office. The procedure was super simple from my perspective. Dr. Iyengar numbed my eyebrow and eyelid area, much like my dentist numbs my gums. Dr. Iyengar, his wonderful assistant Christina and I chatted for the next 20 minutes as the procedure was done. He even removed some annoying skins tags that had developed with age. I then went home and used some cold packs off and on for 15 minutes at a time to prevent swelling. In the following days, no one noticed any bruising or swelling, although it was there for a couple of days. I have just finished my 30-day follow-up visit and everything is perfect. No scarring, no bruises and much improved vision. I was concerned about the qualifications of any doctor using a sharp scalpel near my eyes, but it is easy to trust Dr. Iyengar. I have also learned that Dr. Iyengar is in demand as a speaker sharing his knowledge with other ophthalmologists. I highly recommend Dr. Iyengar in every respect. My thanks also to his staff Christine and Stephanie – really terrific people.
